The therapy starter kit is a collection of tools designed to support the beginning of your recovery journey. You can create your own self-care kit from the resources below. Typically, a blend of tools will assist you to train yourself to relax, raise self-awareness and process feelings.

The purpose of this kit is to provide immediate, accessible resources for coping with stress and promoting emotional regulation.

The tools you have to choose from:

For comfort and distraction:

  • The 3,3,3 technique
  • The breathing technique

Other suggestions:

  • Buy low-cost items that you can use to focus the mind, such as Colouring books and pencils; Puzzle books, like crosswords or Sudoku; A small, cozy item like a fidget toy or a weighted blanket.
  • Lean on the things you know assists you to feel calm such as comfort food or drinks.

For processing emotions:

  • The Journalling exercise
  • The mind map exercise
  • The Mind shift exercise
  • Listen to the Calm Meditation
  • Go Walking

For sensory engagement:

  • Listen to ASMR
  • Curl up in your safe place to decompress
  • Take a bath or shower

For a safe environment
